The lowest level of food safety is in the commercial food industry… as someone who was a chef for 20yrs I can attest to the hypocrisy of the health dept… I have seen more commercial kitchens that I wouldn’t eat food prepared from than I have my neighbors homes… so many restaurants struggle to stay afloat that they will serve food on the edge of being spoiled vs throwing it away… their kitchens are only inspected twice a year at best and violations are acceptable as long as you pay a fine…. is there anything more hypocritical than  https://www.reddit.com/r/ACAB/comments/1n19m8e/city_says_man_who_gives_away_homemade_goods_is/ https://www.reddit.com/r/PoliticalCompassMemes/comments/1n1qxeg/no_right_to_charity_for_you/ Like, I get it, if you are distributing food- there should be some way to ensure that you're not gonna get people sick by way of licenses and such.


But at the same time, when you have an individual that's doing something like this out of the kindness in his heart, you'd think the city would just take care of all of that for him. We need these feel good stories and they could have easily just helped him get whatever he needed to continue what he was doing.
