That doesn’t mean Europe is “no longer Europe”. But still, the influence of the United States is almost impossible to ignore. It’s not as bad as, say, the Philippines. Which was outright colonized by America for fifty years until WWII. But still, the looming presence of Uncle Sam is impossible to hide or run away from. Nor does it feel like Europe really wants to get away from it — among the major powers of the world, America is still seen as the preferable choice to China by most Europeans. And Russia has been revealed by it’s Ukraine war to be a giant with feet of clay. A mighty bear, at first glance, but neutered and declawed…

Yes, I’d say Europe has been quite “Americanized”. Not just recently but gradually, over the course of decades. It varies from country to country. And from area to area. But as a whole, the influence of America is undeniable. Even among those who would speak of American culture disdainfully… they all still recognize American popular culture tropes, know the famous singers, can name a few states and likely speak and write passable to near-fluent English.

There is a joke that goes like “Sweden is the most Americanized country in the world. USA is in second place.”

Part of it was that it was an intentional effort. Between 1907 and 1913 Sweden made throughout investigation on why so many Swedes (about a third of the population) had emigrated to North America and what could be done about it. In the end it resulted in several reforms that aimed to make Sweden more like the USA.

Is Britain the most Americanized country in Europe?

Yes and No

It would seem to be, yet many of the similarities you see are partially because of America’s roots as a British colony! It is not hard to miss if you begin to look at American history.

The thirteen colonies gave you the basis for the future American flag. It hasn’t changed that much from its origins, just fewer crosses and more stars.

Even the Star-Spangled Banner music, the American National Anthem, is just an old British Drinking song from England with revised lyrics.

America still speaks and writes in “English”, the language of England, albeit dropping “u” from certain words.

Popular culture in Europe started to Americanise after World War 2 because of the cultural influences of the millions of US troops and their families. American consumerism, Hollywood, American music are very popular in on Europe. However, it is not completely Americanised. It is a hybrid of European native culture and American influences.

Ireland and the UK are the most Americanised European states… (more)

American culture isn’t everywhere, most Danish people have never worn Nike sneakers (your area Denmark does not represent the entire country)

The vast majority of Denmark children ignore Halloween each year

The solid majority of American film and tv and music is at least somewhat less popular in Denmark than the US . The US used Hollywood, along with its globalist fascist Corporations to ‘soft power’ i.e to culturally colonize and imperialize Europe and other countries after WWII.  Americanization is modern day white man’s burden and modern day Manifest Destiny (the latter was better in the 19th century but still bad)

That iceberg should be completely submerged so to speak. Shame on you for being glorified Americans.

You must be in an Americanize space within your country, likely a lot of tourists and ex pats from the US in it

I want to deAmericanize the world. I am fine with denim jeans (except the ripped jeans type which no European should ever wear), keds, Adidas (1960s types only before Americanization), American entertainment being in Europe as much as or a little more than entertainment from other countries within Europe or Asia etc. But you need to force your govenrment to stop being greedy and kick out American fast food chains (since they are causing obsesity and disease epidemics in Europe etc), American companies like Walmart , Nike (both of which use child slavery labor for their products), MTV etc

America has culturally colonized and imperialized Europe, South America, Asia etc since WWII and they use a ‘soft power’ cover to do it (I support leftist Anthony Giddons approved post and alter third way policies all of which oppose at least some aspects of globalization and globalism). Please let me deAmericanize you. Let’s kick America out of Europe

America is a fascist country now with MAGA and Donald Trump , why would you want to embrace a culture that is fascist? Should we have you embrace Naughtzie Germany culture too? No , so why MAGAmerican culture? AmeriKKKa is evil and needs to go

It’s time you Europeans reverse and cleanse yourself of Americanization. It is a cultural erasure. You shouldn’t celebrate Halloween, Valentine’s Day, nor should you wear Nike sneakers, high top or mid top sneakers. And you shouldn’t be into American movies and tv as much as Americans are at the very least.

We need to end America’s cultural dominance (or perceived cultural dominance) over the world and I plan to do so. We need to kick out American corporations like KFC and similar fast food trash places out of other countires since those places bring with them obesity and terrible habits

Over 75 percent of people in Denmark ignore Halloween each year, and most kids in Denmark ignore Halloween each year

St Patrick’s Day is ignored by over 90 percent of Denmark residents each year

Over 80 percent of people in Denmark have never worn high top or mid top sneakers ever

The vast majority of Denmark residents have never worn sneakers that had plastic in them of any type and have never worn Air Jordan sneakers of any type

That’s nothing new. Everyone in the US is or is descended from a foreigner. The colonies were a great place for disgraced or disenfranchised nobles and gentry as well seedy

In Britain Americanisation has been accelerated by the large scale import of people whose principal education in ‘English’ culture and language is from American sources. Many Asians sound quite American these days.
